My name is Gwendolyn (27) and being supported by support workers that match my needs through Konnexia, ha changed my life for the better. I feel like I have gained a family that I’ve never had. My support workers go above and beyond to support me.

I spent 10 years in a psychiatric hospital and missed out on my childhood and early adult years. I had a 24 hour package put in place, once I left the hospital. It has been reduced over the years, to just a few hours a day as I have gained so much independence and have been taught how to take care of myself. I have been supported socially, emotionally and mentally. I could not have asked for a better team. I have made so many new friends, that I never thought I would have.

I have a muscle wasting condition that has given me a limited life expectancy. I am a full wheelchair user and rely on my carers for all my daily needs to be met.

I am a 25-year-old man who still wants to live life and enjoy what other people my age enjoy.

It never seems too much for my support workers. I go on fun days out and they have even taken me to adult events and Butlins weekends away. They have encouraged me to make friends and engage in social activities.

I have had many agencies through the years, but finding support workers through Konnexia, has been the best thing to happen to me and I am living my best life.

Hi, I’m Ellie (22),

My journey overcoming my struggles, caused by my mental illness and becoming a single parent has not been smooth sailing.
